Case Hardening & Bearing Steel Bars — Manufacturer & Supplier
Hard case over a tough core — 20MnCr5, 16MnCr5, 8620, EN353, EN36 and EN31.
A gear tooth has two contradictory requirements: a surface hard enough to resist contact fatigue, and a core tough enough not to snap. Case hardening grades answer it by carburising a 0.6-1.2 mm skin to 58-62 HRC over a core that stays at 150-200 HB. 16MnCr5 distorts least in thin sections, 20MnCr5 is the volume standard, and 8620 and EN353 carry nickel for heavier parts. EN31 is the separate case — a through-hardening bearing steel that reaches 62-64 HRC with the fine carbide structure a rolling element needs.
Manufactured under the Stancor Bright Bars brand by Stancor Bright Bars.
