Centreless Grinding
Grinding bar between a driving regulating wheel and a grinding wheel without holding it in centres, producing the roundest and most accurate bright bar available.
Why it reaches h8
Because the bar is supported along its length by the work blade rather than held at two ends, it cannot deflect in the middle. That is what lets centreless grinding hold h8 and a surface roughness around 0.4-0.8 µm Ra, where turning leaves 1.6-3.2 µm.
Where it is specified
Anywhere the bar is the finished surface: hydraulic rods before chrome plating, bearing journals, linear shafting, instrument spindles. If a seal runs on the bar, it is ground.
